EARTH DAY

A WEEK-LONG celebration for students and families

MISTER G (Ben Gundersheimer) - the Latin GRAMMY Award Winning musician, author, activist, and educator - has teamed up with THIRD ROW LIVE to create a FREE, week-long Earth Day celebration for students and families around the world. With environmental justice restored as a national priority, Earth Day promises to be especially meaningful this year, ushering in a new chapter of hope and engagement at all levels, from community initiatives to public policy.
MISTER G’s Earth Day lineup includes three bilingual workshops designed to stimulate the curiosity of young people while promoting ecoliteracy and inspiring nature play. The program culminates with an interactive Earth Day Concert, broadcast live from the historic Academy of Music Theatre in Northampton, MA. The show will feature live music and special guests including policy makers, eco-activists, musicians and children.

The Electric Bus

Developed in partnership with Moms Clean Air Force, this workshop gets kids involved in the Clean School Bus Act, legislation recently introduced to Congress that will help school districts transition from pollution-heavy buses that run on diesel to clean, electric battery-powered buses. Participants will learn about how electric vehicles work, where clean energy comes from, and enjoy the debut of MISTER G’s new song “The Electric Bus”.

SEÑORITA MARIPOSA

Chronicling the 3000 mile monarch butterfly migration between Canada to Mexico, the workshop provides a framework for children to see themselves as global citizens, connected to one another across borders. MISTER G will share the story of his journey to visit the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in the mountains of Michoacán, and perform the song that inspired his bilingual picture book. Participants will learn about butterfly habitat and how to help protect the monarch's fragile ecosystems.

Presented in partnership with regional and national parks organizations, MISTER G will incorporate the voices and stories of children in a bilingual program that aims to expand language access and promote ecoliteracy. Participants will be given a challenge to make discoveries in their own neighborhoods.
